Hot on the heels of the London launch of Curious, Paul and I met again two weeks later, this time in Copenhagen rather than London, where we talked about Curious as well as Not Going It Alone. We were prompted by a wide range of questions from curator Irene Campolmi at the sprawling contemporary art space Simian. Alternating between framing introductions, readings, anecdotes and responses – sometimes very tangential ones – to Irene’s asks, Paul and I meandered through and around the two books, which I concluded were the ninth and tenth publishing project we’ve worked on together.
An attentive audience, which comprised unknown as well as known faces – including that of former RCA colleague Kelly Large, who was there for a week’s teaching – seemed happy to stay for close to two hours in what slowly became a rather cold space. Having not been in the city itself in quite a long time, I had decided to stay another night and see a range of contemporary art spaces and exhibitions. No pics of the conversation itself, but an image of one of the (four!) exhibitions currently on in Simian’s set of rooms of various sizes, and one of Copenhagen’s most recently opened underground stations.
