While in Helsinki for the launch of Kathrin Böhm’s Art on the Scale of Life in May, I was invited to make a selection from PUBLICS’ library. As my head was geared towards different forms of collaboration in artistic, curatorial and other creative practices, I ended up with a range of books that approach the subject in different contexts and with slightly different concerns and focus points, sometimes directly, sometimes more tangentially.
I am interested in how collaboration is often quite tricky to describe, where how we speak and write about it often focuses on who collaborates with whom or what and what the outcome is. Less attention tends to be paid to the intricacies of the often drawn-out processes and negotiations involved, which masks the inherent complexities but also great potential of working with others. The full list of my selection, titled ‘Collaborative Articulations,’ can be found on the PUBLICS website.
